Three experiences, years apart, became the principles behind SigXA.Trust came first
SigXA was founded by Harsimran Kaur, a technology leader with more than a decade of experience building healthcare and enterprise software.
Her approach to healthcare technology was shaped early while helping build Data4Life in Europe. As part of the core team preparing for a critical BSI audit, she worked alongside consultants and auditors to demonstrate how sensitive health information moved through, and was protected by, the platform.

Then we listened
Years later, while speaking with Canadian clinics about AI, one question came up again and again:
Where is our patient data hosted?
It was clear that trust was not abstract for these clinics. It meant knowing exactly where their patients' information lived, and under whose laws it was protected. That question shaped SigXA's approach to Canadian data residency from the start.
Then a clinic changed our assumptions
One of our earliest clinic visits changed the way we thought about AI scribes. It was a small dental practice - one dentist, one dental assistant, and one laptop.
The laptop was not in the operatory. The dentist moved between rooms, worked with their hands, and could not stop during treatment to interact with a computer.
It exposed a simple problem with the way much of healthcare technology is built: we build the software first and then ask clinicians to adapt to it. We decided to do the opposite.
Do not redesign the clinic around the AI. Design the AI around the clinic.
We decided not to build another scribe
A note is only the beginning. SigXA listens once during the visit, and everything else grows from that single ambient layer.
The scribe is the entry point, not the destination.
